Cases of intolerance with fatal results are reported in dogs – especially Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and related breeds and crosses, and also in turtles/tortoises. Do not combine treatment with accination against lungworms. If vaccinated animals are to be treated, treatment should not be carried out within a period of 28 days before or after vaccination. The shedding of nematode eggs can continue for some time after treatment.
In Cattle: To avoid secondary reactions due to the death of Hypoderma larvae in the oesophagus or in the spine, it is recommended to administer the product at the end of warble fly activity and before the larvae reach their resting sites. Frequent and repeated use may lead to the development of resistance. It is important that the correct dose is given in order to minimise the risk of resistance. To avoid
under-dosing, animals should be grouped according to their bodyweight and dosed according to the dose of the heaviest animal in the group.
Clinical symptoms of ivermectin toxicity include ataxia and depression. No antidote has been identified. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be given. No signs of toxicity were observed in animals treated at up to 3 times the recommended
    dose rate.
Soft tissue swelling and thickening of the skin at the injection site has been observed in treated animals. Typically, these reactions are transient and disappear within four weeks. Transitory discomfort has been observed in some animals, immediately following subcutaneous administration. In cattle this may include jumping and rolling, but behaviour returns to normal after 15 minutes.

Panthox Spray 200ml for All Animals

    DESCRIPTION:

Panthox and is an aerosol spray indicated for the prevention and treatment of topical oxytetracycline-susceptible
    infections.

    COMPOSITION:
    Panthox: Oxytetracycline HCl 3,6 % m/m, d-Panthenol 3,2 % m/m and Gentian Violet 0,3% m/m as dye.
    Panthox d-Panthenol: Oxytetracycline HCl 3,6 % m/m, d-Panthenol 3,2 % m/m

    INDICATIONS:
Panthox can be used for the prevention and treatment of topical oxytetracycline-susceptible infections such as lacerations, abrasions, open wounds, dermatitis and footrot in all species of animals. Oxytetracycline HCl is a broad-spectrum antibiotic and is active against a variety of Gram positive and negative organisms. Gentian Violet is a purple dye that has mild antibacterial and antifungal properties.

d-Panthenol is effective in accelerating the wound healing process. A study was conducted using a 5% d-panthenol ointment versus no treatment. The untreated wound took 104 hours to close completely whereas epithelisation of the wound treated with panthenol took 68 hours to close completely. Similar results were obtained by repeated comparison of panthenol ointment with placebo. The mean time to healing under placebo was 99 hours, whereas application of the preparation containing d-panthenol reduced this time to 70 hours. 1

Weisser and Erlemann have shown that even low concentrations of d-panthenol have a positive influence on epithelisation.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Spray the product onto the affected area once or twice daily until complete recovery.

STORAGE: Store below 25 °C away from direct sunlight.

    • Cattle – not more than 20 mℓ per site.
    • Pigs – not more than 10 mℓ per site.
    • Sheep and goats – not more than 5 mℓ per site.

For pigs under 10 kg it is preferable to inject subcutaneously. This route is not preferred for other animals as it may cause some swelling.

    Administration
Injection in the neck is preferable to the rump, as this tends to give higher antibiotic blood levels and causes less tissue damage.
Inject deep into the fleshy part of the muscle. Temporary discomfort may be caused by i.m. injections; massaging the site of injection will reduce discomfort and will help to disperse the antibiotic at the site of injection.

N.B. For rapid recovery a prompt and accurate diagnosis is essential. It is, therefore, always advisable to consult your veterinarian for a correct diagnosis.

    Dosage Information

1 ml per 10 kg body mass by deep intramuscular, subcutaneous or intravenous injection.

A single intramuscular or subcutaneous injection of 1 ml Bivatop® 200 LA/ 10 kg body mass equivalent to 20 mg oxytetracycline/ kg body mass is indicated to provide sustained antibiotic action over 3 to 5 days for the prevention or treatment of the susceptible disease condition of cattle where re-treatment is impractical due to various animal husbandry reasons. However in more chronic disease conditions a second treatment 48 to 72 hours following the first treatment may be administered.

Intravenous injection of BIivatop® 200 LA does not achieve any long-acting effect. If administered intravenously, BIivatop® 200 LA must be given slowly over a time period of at least 5 minutes to prevent potential collapse of the animal.

Do not administer more than 10 ml at any one subcutaneous or intramuscular injection site and not more than 1 to 2 ml per injection site in small calves.

Withdrawal period: The meat of treated animals may not be used for human consumption within 28 days, and the milk within 4 days, after the last treatment.
