Pet Remedy works alongside the brain’s natural ‘messengers’ called neurotransmitters, which work by telling the nerve receiving the message either to calm (via GABA pathway) or get ‘fired up’. Kyrogest Forte 190g Digestion Supplement for Bovine and Ovine (Ruminants)

Kyrogest Forte 190g Digestion Supplement for Bovine and Ovine (Ruminants)

Kyrogest Forte is indicated for normalising digestion in the rumen.

    COMPOSITION:

A 190g bag contains Sodium propionate 60g, Calcium propionate 40g, Calcium phosphate 50g, Sodium chloride 20g, Ginger 19.2g, Cobalt sulphate 74mg, Copper sulphate 233mg, Manganese sulphate 0.22mg, Ferrous sulphate 300mg, Zinc sulphate 12mg.

    INDICATIONS:

    • Kyrogest Forte is indicated for normalisation of fore-stomach digestion following primary and secondary digestive disturbances in the ruminant, as well as bovine ketosis. It also assists in the stimulation of normal ruminal activity following rumenotomy.
    • Kyrogest Forte  assists in normalisation of the acid-base equilibrium by lowering the pH and by increasing ruminal acidity and stimulating ruminal activity. Stimulation of ruminal activity usually results in a pick-up of feeding and rumination after a day in most uncomplicated cases.
    • Cases of indigestion, which have run a course of more than a few days, and animals suffering from prolonged anorexia can suffer an appreciable loss of microflora. Kyrogest Forte exerts a beneficial effect on the production of normal ruminal microflora which will aid cellulose digestion.
    • Hypocalcaemia and hypophosphataemia can occur in cattle due to a reduction in feed intake because of any illness that may have affected the appetite. Losses of bicarbonate, sodium, potassium and chloride ions cause imbalances in the acid-base balance … rational therapy should include the use of alkalinisers.*”

    Biored 1kg Anti-Oxidant for Cattle & Sheep

    Biored 1kg Anti-Oxidant for Cattle & Sheep

BIORED (Reg. nr. V20924, act 36/1947) has been scientifically proven to act, both in vitro and in vivo, as an anti-oxidant as well as an antiradical. It has also been demonstrated that Biored’s antioxidant activity protects naturally occurring Alfa-tocopherol (Vit E), Retinol (Vit A) as well as Ascorbic Acid (Vit C) against depletion. This is further enhanced by it’s scavenging of free radicals, a function also associated with the above vitamins. This results in a vitamin sparing effect.

    • BIORED is the trade name for a natural plant extract anti-oxidant.
    • Composition: Monomeric Flavonoids and Polymeric Pro-anthocyanidins
    • Antioxidant activity protects Vitamin E and A against depletion through anti-radical activity
    • Collagen stabilizing effect prevents tearing of gut during slaughter process decreasing contamination

BIORED has been extensively tested in both ruminants and monogastric animals with beneficial results. In these trials different levels of BIORED supplementation were tested as well as the replacement of 50% of the vitamin A and E with BIORED in the ration. Growth and other parameters were measured.
BIORED has improved the length of the period of layers on egg production; economical from 75 weeks to more than 132 weeks in commercial units

SUGGESTED USES OF Berenil® R.T.U.IN THE PREVENTION OF REDWATER

      1. Protection of susceptible cattle being moved through a Redwater areaInject Berenil® R.T.U. at recommended dosage to prevent Asiatic (European) Redwater for 2 weeks and African Redwater for 4 weeks.
      2. Controlling a Redwater outbreak in a cattle herdInject all cattle with Berenil® R.T.U. at recommended dosage. This should stop further cases of Redwater within 24 hours and cure affected animals if not terminally ill.
      3. Protection of stud animals at shows where the immune state of the animals to Redwater is uncertainUse Berenil® R.T.U. at the recommended dosage to prevent Redwater for the periods as mentioned in No. 1 above. Keeping the animals tick free reduces chances of Redwater transmission following these periods.
      4. Routine treatment of cattle arriving at feedlotsThe use of Berenil® R.T.U. in this case renders protection as explained in No. 1 above. Cure of animals already affected by Redwater may be expected, provided they are not terminally ill. The control of ticks on cattle at time of arrival should be coupled to the process.
      5. Vaccine warningShould a bovine be treated for Redwater with Berenil® R.T.U., the animal should not be vaccinated against Asiatic (European) Redwater for 1 month and against African Redwater for 2 months after treatment.If Berenil® R.T.U. has been used to suppress a Redwater vaccine reaction, revaccination of the treated animals is necessary. If immunity to Asiatic (European) Redwater is required, revaccination after 1 month is recommended. If immunity to African Redwater is required, revaccination after 2 months is recommended.

Biorem 100g Probiotic, Digestive and Laxative for Cattle and Sheep

Biorem 100g Probiotic, Digestive and Laxative for Cattle and Sheep

BIOREM is a registered PROBIOTIC according to Act 36 of 1947. BIOREM contains large quantities of micro-organisms that are cultivated on a Lucerne medium.

Lactobacillus culture for treatment of diarrhoea in calves and lambs.

For the biological treatment of non-specific and nutritional diarrhoea in calves and lambs, for diarrhoea caused by certain pathogenic E.Coli; for replacement therapy after antibiotic treatment.

BIOREM contains large quantities of micro-organisms that are cultivated on a Lucerne medium.
The product looks like milled Lucerne, with a typical sour acetic smell. The species of lactic acid bacteria in BIOREM are specifically selected for their ability to multiply under conditions which are usually not very favourable to the conventional micro-organisms in the digestive tract, as well for their antagonism against specific pathogens.

WHY IS THE BACTERIA INCUBATED ON LUCERNE (alfalfa)?
    Lucerne as a growth medium:
Reduces the cost of the growth process.
It conserves lactic acid bacteria exceptionally long.
Acute non-specific diarrhoea in calves and lambs can be treated more effectively with the dried product. The undeveloped rumen, which is frequently the source of infection, can be reached more easily. Dry food goes directly to the rumen.
It is completely safe and it does not contaminate the environment with chemical materials and antibiotic resistant organisms.

    Studies reveal no adverse effects.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE – USE ONLY AS DIRECTED

    FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

Taktic® Cattle Spray should not be mixed with any other dip.

Note: Start with fresh dip at each day’s dipping/spraying.

Empty plunge dips and sumps at completion of each day’s dipping.

    CATTLE

    Taktic® Cattle Spray Water
    1 ℓ 500 ℓ
    5 ℓ 2 500 ℓ

    1. TICKS

Application – Only for use by spraying (hand spraying or spray races).

Initial dilution rate – 1 ℓ Taktic® Cattle Spray per 500 ℓ water. Pre-mix the required amount of Taktic® Cattle Spray with a suitable amount of water in a container. Once mixed thoroughly, add to the measured bulk water in the spray sump and stir thoroughly.

Replenishment – It is recommended that not more than 500 head of cattle be sprayed in the spray race at one time, especially where fouling is a problem. If however, this figure is exceeded, boosting at a rate of 100 mℓ of Taktic® Cattle Spray per 100 head, commencing at 500 head, can be undertaken to maintain a satisfactory deposit of active ingredient especially where tick-borne diseases are a problem.

Intensive tick control is provided by use as directed at weekly intervals.

All animals should be treated and interruption of the programme should be avoided as they will then, if not vaccinated, be susceptible to various tick-borne diseases.

Under circumstances of low tick challenge, it may be used, at the user’s discretion, at intervals greater than 7 days. In these circumstances, users are advised to make use of relevant vaccines to obtain optimal protection of their cattle against prevalent tick-borne diseases.

    1. MANGE

Application, initial dilution rate and replenishment – See directions for use for ticks.

    For effective control, spray weekly.

    SHEEP

    SHEEP SCAB MITES

    • Note: When treating an outbreak of sheep scab mite, it is essential that:
    • All sheep on farm are correctly treated and marked after treatment.
    • All animals must be checked 7 to 10 days after treatment and any animals not marked must be treated.
    • Sheep scab is a notifiable disease, contact the State Veterinarian.

Application – For plunge dips and continuous replenishment showers only.

    Initial dilution rate – 1 ℓ Taktic® Cattle Spray per 250 ℓ of water.

Topping up – As this dip wash does strip, top up after dip or sump falls by 20 % of the initial volume. Replenish at 1,5 ℓ Taktic® Cattle Spray per 250 ℓ of water added.

Dip the animal long enough to ensure that the animal is properly soaked and that it’s head was submerged at least 3 times.

Only a once off treatment is necessary for the treatment of sheep scab mites.

SHEEP LICE, ITCH MITES AND KEDS

Note: For effective control of lice in an infested flock, all sheep on the property must be treated.

Taktic® Cattle Spray can be used 60 days prior to shearing as it has a degradation time of 35 to 45 days after which wool residues will no longer be a concern.

Application – For plunge dips and continuous replenishment showers only.

    Initial dilution rate – 1 ℓ Taktic® Cattle Spray per 500 ℓ of water.

Topping up – As this dip wash does strip, top up after dip or sump falls by 25 % of the initial volume. Replenish at 1,5 ℓ Taktic® Cattle Spray per 500 ℓ of water added.

Two dippings, 14 days apart, are necessary for the treatment of lice on sheep, itch mites and keds.

    PREVENTION OF LUMPY WOOL

Kyrotrim 100ml for Cattle, Sheep & Pigs

Kyrotrim 100ml for Cattle, Sheep & Pigs

    DESCRIPTION:

Potentiated sulphonamide injection with potent antibacterial action.

    INDICATIONS:

KYROTRIM is indicated for use in cattle, sheep and pigs to treat sulphonamide sensitive infections. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract as well as wound infections and footrot.

    COMPOSITION:
Sterile solution containing Sulphamethoxazole 200 mg/ml and Trimethoprim 40mg/ml

    Preservative: benzyl alcohol 2%.

    DISCUSSION
Sulphonamides combined with dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors, e.g. trimethoprim, constitute a useful class of drugs for the treatment of bacterial infections. Dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors inhibit the conversion of bacterial dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid which is necessary for the synthesis of certain amino acids, purines, and DNA synthesis. Because they act at different points of the folate metabolic pathway a potent synergy exists between these reductase inhibitors and the sulphonamides, with an increase of up to about 10-fold in antibacterial activity, and a bactericidal action where the components individually are generally bacteriostatic. The combination exerts its selective action because of a far greater affinity for the bacterial than the mammalian enzyme. The sulphamethoxazole/trimethoprim combination used in KYROTRIM has been used in a wide variety of infections caused by susceptible organisms, particularly those of the urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tracts. The antibacterial spectrum of the combination is broad and includes a high proportion of anaerobic bacteria, Nocardia, Chlamydia, and Toxoplasma spp. Potentiated sulphonamides have repeatedly been shown to be therapeutically useful in treating veterinary microbial infections in both small and large animals. They have been used to treat susceptible bacterial populations (including Staphylococcus spp.) in the skin, both topically and systemically. Potentiated sulphonamides are effective against many Staphylococcal spp. and gram-negative rods and are used extensively in the treatment of canine pyoderma.

    DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
By intramuscular injection 1 ml per 15 kg body mass daily for 5 days.
In cases of severe infection the dose can be increased to 1,5 ml per 15 kg body mass.

    FURTHER INFORMATION:
Avermectins may not be well tolerated in all non-target species. Cases of intolerance with fatal results are reported in dogs – especially Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and related breeds and crosses, and also in turtles/tortoises. Do not combine treatment with accination against lungworms. If vaccinated animals are to be treated, treatment should not be carried out within a period of 28 days before or after vaccination. The shedding of nematode eggs can continue for some time after treatment.
In Cattle: To avoid secondary reactions due to the death of Hypoderma larvae in the oesophagus or in the spine, it is recommended to administer the product at the end of warble fly activity and before the larvae reach their resting sites. Frequent and repeated use may lead to the development of resistance. It is important that the correct dose is given in order to minimise the risk of resistance. To avoid
under-dosing, animals should be grouped according to their bodyweight and dosed according to the dose of the heaviest animal in the group.
Clinical symptoms of ivermectin toxicity include ataxia and depression. No antidote has been identified. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be given. No signs of toxicity were observed in animals treated at up to 3 times the recommended
    dose rate.
Soft tissue swelling and thickening of the skin at the injection site has been observed in treated animals. Typically, these reactions are transient and disappear within four weeks. Transitory discomfort has been observed in some animals, immediately following subcutaneous administration. In cattle this may include jumping and rolling, but behaviour returns to normal after 15 minutes.

    DOSAGE
The basic dosage is 1 mℓ per 10 kg body mass
    • Cattle: Apply the required dose in two lines, from the base of the skull along both sides of the spine up to the tail root. For Tsetse fly treat every 14 days or according to challenge.
    • Sheep: Apply the required dose volume in 4 parts to the bare skin areas of the groin and
axillae. In the case of sheep infested with Karoo-paralysis tick (Ixodes rubicundus), Redline
has to be applied early in the season when these ticks are first observed (either on the grazing or on the animals). Two to three treatments 7 to 10 days apart at this time should protect the sheep against Karoo-paralysis, depending on the severity of the tick challenge.
    • Game: Apply the required dose volume with a suitable applicator. If self-medicating devices are used, it is important that the device only remains activated for as long as it takes to deliver one dosage to the animals in a particular paddock / camp. The device should not be used for continuous, low-level treatment.
    • Ostriches: Apply the required dose volume along the backline.
