Kyrotrim 100ml for Cattle, Sheep & Pigs

Kyrotrim 100ml for Cattle, Sheep & Pigs

    DESCRIPTION:

Potentiated sulphonamide injection with potent antibacterial action.

    INDICATIONS:

KYROTRIM is indicated for use in cattle, sheep and pigs to treat sulphonamide sensitive infections. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract as well as wound infections and footrot.

    COMPOSITION:
Sterile solution containing Sulphamethoxazole 200 mg/ml and Trimethoprim 40mg/ml

    Preservative: benzyl alcohol 2%.

    DISCUSSION
Sulphonamides combined with dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors, e.g. trimethoprim, constitute a useful class of drugs for the treatment of bacterial infections. Dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors inhibit the conversion of bacterial dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid which is necessary for the synthesis of certain amino acids, purines, and DNA synthesis. Because they act at different points of the folate metabolic pathway a potent synergy exists between these reductase inhibitors and the sulphonamides, with an increase of up to about 10-fold in antibacterial activity, and a bactericidal action where the components individually are generally bacteriostatic. The combination exerts its selective action because of a far greater affinity for the bacterial than the mammalian enzyme. The sulphamethoxazole/trimethoprim combination used in KYROTRIM has been used in a wide variety of infections caused by susceptible organisms, particularly those of the urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tracts. The antibacterial spectrum of the combination is broad and includes a high proportion of anaerobic bacteria, Nocardia, Chlamydia, and Toxoplasma spp. Potentiated sulphonamides have repeatedly been shown to be therapeutically useful in treating veterinary microbial infections in both small and large animals. They have been used to treat susceptible bacterial populations (including Staphylococcus spp.) in the skin, both topically and systemically. Potentiated sulphonamides are effective against many Staphylococcal spp. and gram-negative rods and are used extensively in the treatment of canine pyoderma.

    DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
By intramuscular injection 1 ml per 15 kg body mass daily for 5 days.
In cases of severe infection the dose can be increased to 1,5 ml per 15 kg body mass.

    WARNINGS: Withdrawal period:
    Meat: 5 days.
    Milk: 3 days
May cause swelling at the site of injection.
Do not use in animals with liver disease.
Do not use in animals with known sulpha drug sensitivity.
Keep out of reach of children, animals and uninformed persons.
IV administration of potentiated sulphonamides may precipitate collapse in horses and cattle.

    FURTHER INFORMATION:
Avermectins may not be well tolerated in all non-target species. Cases of intolerance with fatal results are reported in dogs – especially Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and related breeds and crosses, and also in turtles/tortoises. Do not combine treatment with accination against lungworms. If vaccinated animals are to be treated, treatment should not be carried out within a period of 28 days before or after vaccination. The shedding of nematode eggs can continue for some time after treatment.
In Cattle: To avoid secondary reactions due to the death of Hypoderma larvae in the oesophagus or in the spine, it is recommended to administer the product at the end of warble fly activity and before the larvae reach their resting sites. Frequent and repeated use may lead to the development of resistance. It is important that the correct dose is given in order to minimise the risk of resistance. To avoid
under-dosing, animals should be grouped according to their bodyweight and dosed according to the dose of the heaviest animal in the group.
Clinical symptoms of ivermectin toxicity include ataxia and depression. No antidote has been identified. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be given. No signs of toxicity were observed in animals treated at up to 3 times the recommended
    dose rate.
Soft tissue swelling and thickening of the skin at the injection site has been observed in treated animals. Typically, these reactions are transient and disappear within four weeks. Transitory discomfort has been observed in some animals, immediately following subcutaneous administration. In cattle this may include jumping and rolling, but behaviour returns to normal after 15 minutes.

Kyrovite 100ml Vitamin A-E Injection for Range Livestock & Other Animals

Kyrovite 100ml Vitamin A-E Injection for Range Livestock & Other Animals

    DESCRIPTION:

KYROVITE A-E injection is a high-potency aqueous of Vitamin A and E. It is a milky, yellowish-white fluid of low viscosity.

Vitamin A is the only vitamin commonly deficient in diets of range livestock. The deficiency occurs either as a primary disease due to an absolute deficiency of Vitamin A or its precursor carotene in the diet or as a secondary disease in which the dietary supply is adequate but digestion, absorption or metabolism is interfered with to produce a deficiency.

The major pathophysiological effect of Vitamin A deficiency are well-known and include night-blindness, cerebrospinal fluid pressure, distorted bone growth, atrophy of epithelial tissue, multiple congenital effects and loss of immune mechanism function.

Traditional forms of treatment have included the use of oily solutions of vitamin. However, the preference now is for aqueous forms of the injection because of their greater bioavailability. Aqueous emulsions of Vitamin A have been shown to have improved bioavailability compared to other types of formulation (see bar chart).

    COMPOSITION:

Each ml of KYROVITE A-E contains:
    500 000 i.u. Vitamin A
    50 i.u. Vitamin E Preservative: benzyl alcohol 1%

    INDICATIONS:

For the prevention and treatment of Vitamin A deficiency in cattle.

    DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Give by deep intramuscular injection 1ml per 250kg or 2ml per 500kg body mass. Repeat every 2 to 3 months during dry grazing conditions except where otherwise recommended. Under intensive farming conditions Vitamin A requirements may be higher and larger doses therefore required.
